>PC

Published by Montessorimum under JS's Drawing

Lately JS spent quite an amount of time hoarding over the house pc. Once she has done with her school work, she asked for permission to use the PC and I don’t have the heart to stop her. No, she don’t just play games on FB, I saw her doing a lot of design work using publisher and some animation work with PIVOT STICKFIGURE software. I must say she is very good at it. Sometimes when I browse through the PC, I discover many treasures. Those marvelous art work of hers. Perhaps I should consider getting another PC. Will find out which is the best model suitable for her, need to get reviews from desktop computer reviews

Some example of her work.

There are also some very funny animation she had made, but they are in raw format and after I save as GIF, I can’t quite get the right resolution to put in my blog. I am amazed with her talent.

Published by Montessorimum under JS's Drawing

My girl doesn’t go for tuition, my girl doesn’t have to do lots of revision ( in fact none she has to do). She just have to complete her homework and she has the freedom to do what she wants.

And she comes out with these ….

Wimpy Kid Inspired Drawing

Published by Montessorimum under JS's Drawing

Last weekend when we went to the book rental shop for story telling session, JS discovered the Whimpy Kid book series. She begged me to borrow the book though we still had one unfinished Enid Blyton St Clare series at home. (That one is a little advance for her, so we do read a loud together on that series. Her second series of Enid Blyton after Enchanted Wood series)

She surprised me with some sketches two days ago. Instantly I know she has got the inspiration from Wimpy Kid. She didn’t copy from the book nor referring to the book, very much her own idea, but the style is from the book. From her drawing , I know what books caught her attention and which books she is interested in. It just came naturally.

Drawings

Published by Montessorimum under JS's Drawing

Sometimes I find JS’s drawing lack originality. Like any students that attended art classes, often the teacher already give them an example to look at and everyone draws the same picture by just adding a little of their own elements and colours of their choice.

Even at home, this habit persisted. She copies and get inspired by other people’s drawing. Like she see someone draw something and posted in on the blog and she likes it, she will draw the same thing in her art block , or she will copy the drawing book. Sometimes when she is out of idea and do not know how, she google at Google image.

Very rarely I see drawing out of her own idea and totally her work without copying from anywhere.

On rare ocassion only did I see original drawing like these

She wrote a short story for her drawing too.

I hope to see more original work like this from her.

Children’s Art Competition

Published by Montessorimum under JS's Drawing

KKBC is organizing a children’s art competition. You can get form and entry details HERE

JS is always interested in art and drawing. Art is one of her strongest area and we want to encourage her on that and give her as much exposure as possible. Not really aiming for her to win, but if she does , it will be good motivation, but if she doesn’t that will be okay too.

Been asking her to start drawing. I noticed that if she draws freely, she can draw better. But if there is a aim for her drawing, she becomes tense and lost her creativity. She becomes less confident and keep on seeking for approval and acknowledgment. The first piece of drawing was produced in that way.

The subsequent pieces, she has got the hang of it and started to put in more of her own flavor. She is still working on the coloring. As much as I like to give suggestion, I think I should rather keep mum and let her draw and color the way she wants.

JS’s Drawing – Desert

Published by Montessorimum under JS's Drawing

I used to visualized and plan to have a more structured homeschool session with WH and JS , however the structured sessions didn’t materialized and it is always steer towards unschooling. JS spents most part of the day doing nothing but DRAWING. I’m always in awe that she never complaint and grew tired of it, she can just draw and draw and draw none stop.

The other morning, she picked up a book for me to read to her. It’s a fact book about Desert. The topic itself must be so captivating that many hours later during the night, she recap what I have read to her through her drawings without any prompting.

No Love

Published by Montessorimum under JS's Drawing

JS is a very sensible girl. She must have noticed the tense atmosphere at home, the cold war between hub and me. I haven’t said a single negative things in front of her and I still treat the children as per normal, however she notices it.

I’m very shocked and surprise to find this drawing. The drawing speaks a thousand words.

How awful we look like when we are all angry.

I know what we are going through is not healthy for the kids, but there’s so much I can do and it really have to take both parties to mend things and I can’t make it happen by myself. :(
