I think I’m very lucky and blessed to have helpful neighbor. There weren’t many Chinese in this housing area. Probably only 5% of the overall residents here are Chinese, but I’m blessed to have met 2 very helpful family.
Since the day I moved in, with 2 young kids and without maid, my opposite neighbor has been very helpful to have a look out for me. Though I must say that at that time I’m capable to go out with 2 kids myself but my neighbor thinks that it was too much for me too cope and will often buy or cook food over for me. Until today she still often bring over food. I try to return her favor as much as possible.
Yesterday the opposite aunty came over, she wanted me to sent her to the saloon. Unfortunately I’m not able to drive , at least for a couple of weeks or until my condition stabilize. I told her my condition, and right away, she offers her help saying that next morning she would buy me breakfast and in case of anything I should just give them a shout. She was very concerned too…just like how a mum would react to her daughter. She also said if I need anything from the market, I should just let her know.
And then there’s JS’s classmate who stays a block away. JS’s is currently following them to school. The friend’s mother also offer me the same help to do grocery shopping. She was telling me, if I need anything from the wet market or hypermarket, I will just have to let her know. I guess I have already given her much trouble and responsible to sent JS to and from school, seriously don’t want to further give trouble.
But I’m glad that help is around.
I’m sure if I’m staying in the urban city, one can hardly get these kind of neighbor. All kept to themselves and are distant and cold. The only person that you can rely is probably your own family members. In the small town it’s different. I or rather we might be alone with the family members so far away, but I’m lucky to have good neighbors that is constantly here to offer help.

Yeah, small town ppl have more time for others.
Since I lived alone, my neighbors too, always look out for me, reminded me to lock my car or turned off the headlights when I forgot, the next door aunty also gave me food whenever she cooked something special.
Haha…small town ppl got nothing to do…so they like KPC… which in a way is good also.Â
