I got tagged by Clair as well as my buddy on this last week. Don’t want to appeared stuck up (has been delaying doing tags for a while due to laziness), better get it done now.

Do you remember how you developed a love for reading?
I grew up surrounded by books at home as well as at my grandparents place. Reading is like eating , bathing and changing to us (my brother and me) , it has always been part of our life. When we were in primary school, my dad set up a home library for us, which I took charge of the English and Malay section while my brother took care of the Chinese books.

What are some books you read as a child?
Fairy tales by Hans Christian Anderson, The Grimms’ Brothers as well as Chinese pictures stories book. That was for preschool years. In lower primary, Enid Blyton was in my reading list too apart from those Chinese Folklore, Buddhist Children Stories. I remember most vividly “The Enchanted Tree” . I started reading Chinese Romance at age 11 and was simply hooked to it. Which at that time my parents didn’t really like my book choice. :

What is your favourite genre?
Personal encounter/bibliography. Particularly interested in those written by Chinese Author (but written in English_ about their struggle during the cultural revolution.

Do you have a favourite novel?
Kane and Abel used to be my favourite. And I have read “The Wild Swan” 5 times.

Where do you usually read?
Anywhere.

When do you usually read?
Anytime. Now that I’m so short of time, I usually read when I’m nursing baby to sleep and you can imagine I read in an awkward position (reclining side way. :P)

Do you usually have more than one book you are reading at a time?
Nope. I used to finish up one book before going for another. But lately, with so little time and yet can’t stop shopping for more books, it’s usually I flip through the few chapters of the current book I’m reading and when the new book arrive, I abandon the one that I’m half way through and starting reading the new book. In a way, I have never get to finish reading up the whole book.

Do you read nonfiction in a different way or place than you read fiction?
Not sure. Not that I pay attention to.

Do you buy most of the books you read, or borrow them, or check them out of the library?
In my life, apart from during Uni life, I have never used the library. I might borrow them, rent them and I prefer buying them.

Do you keep most of the books you buy?
Yes, they are my prize possession.

If you have children, what are some of the favorite books you have shared with them?
I would like them to read those Chinese Classic. Currently they are reading some of the pictures book that I used to be reading when I was their age. I have yet to get my mum to dig out more from her storage.

Were they some of the same ones you read as a child?
Yep, .

Do you keep a TBR (to be read) list?
Nope

What’s next?
Nothing in my list at the moment.

What books would you like to reread?
I would like to go through some of the Chinese Classic like “Feng Shen Bang” and “Liao Jai”

Who are your favourite authors?
Don’t have any favourite.

Don’t know who else to tag. Those I have in mind to tag, have already done the tag. :(
