When I was a first time mother, I was a very fussy mother. A mother that is so hard on following schedule and routine that I do not know how to let go and mothering with ease and peace. Under the influence of the babysitter, I was very hard on how much sleep and nap the baby gets each day and I got worried sick if she didn’t finish her milk on certain days or is sleeping less because we were out. I often have arguments with hub because he’s the easy going type. I used to key in all the vital information, tracking JS’s milk intake, sleep hours, immunization record into my palm baby software. I purposely downloaded that software and installed it in my palm for easy reference and at the same time , I have another record book to manually keep track on things.
When my 2nd son WH came along, I used to relax a bit in my parenting style but at that time I was first time attempting to exclusively breastfeed, I was having concern that he would not get enough milk and the only thing I really keep track was my breastfeeding schedule. I had a time table on that on how long he suckles at each breast and how long is the next feed etc. I kept the record until I started solid on him.
As a 3rd time mother now, I certainly had relax a lot. I no longer keep track and a record on how much time and how long JL naps each day or how much she eats and drinks. It’s more on feeling and intuition. I find it less stressful and more importantly I trust baby to tell me her need instead of letting her follow my expectation.
Recently I have been given a chance to review a parenting software – the babble soft. Well, I must say that this online software is cool, especially for first time parents, but for me who has so little time to key in every single minor details, I tend to have a record in my mind now and follows my child’s flow and intuition instead of using the software. Anyhow, I will still recommend first time parents to give it a try. My advise is that whatever record you jot down, it’s only for reference and not make your life hard to strictly follow to the record and make baby unhappy and yourself stress out.
Let me tel you more about this great program. There’s this special column for mum as well as for baby. Under the mum’s session, you get to key in your breastfed schedule and pumping schedule as well as what time and when to feed your baby’s medicine. It’s great especially for working mum who breastfeed , when these mums need to express breastmilk during office hour for their babies. With this software, it’s easy to keep track how many times to pump as well as how many time each pumping session can yield.
For baby, you can keep track on record on her sleep pattern, like how many nap time per day and how long per session, breastfeeding/bottle feed session, and how many diaper change. If you are a first breastfeeding mother , I suppose you will measure whether your baby is having enough milk by looking into how many diaper change per day. (That’s what I did) so with this software, it’s easy for you to keep a record.
From all the data you’ve keyed in, the software will generate a summary at a glance, so it’s easy for mum to do comparison and to note if there’s any difference hence able to point out if there’s any thing unusual to the baby.
By the way, you can also upload your baby photo into Baby Say Cheese to share your the precious photos with your friends around the world.
