JL is in K2 this year. This is her final year in preschool and very soon she will have her graduation concert. Today I received a notice from school stating the date and the venue of the concert.

This is part of the notice

A member of the parents’ of Taska & Tadika P’13 child/children are welcome to participate on this annual event without additional charge. We also invite other members of the family to participate in this special event for your child/children with a minimal charge……

...Additional member/swho wish to attent the Graudation & Family day will be charged RM35/ per pax (for adult) and RM25 per pax (for children)….

Somehow I just feel that this is daylight robbery. Because we paid for each child RM100 in beginning of the year for the graduation and family day.

What is the purpose of this gradution? We as parents, grandparents wants to attend to give our support to our beloved little one. It’s actually quite boring to sit through to watch other kids . The highlight is to catch a glimpse of our little one. We may be seated there for hours and spent 10 – 20 minutes for a short performance for our love ones. For me, my purpose of attending is not to go makan makan. I don’t need the refreshment prepared (last year experience was just some sandwishes and fried noodles, which definitely not worth the additional charges incurred).  I really do not know what’s the purpose and am not very happy with it. It’s like being forced to pay.  You can’t expect just one parent to go give support to the child. The child would expect both mother and father to be present. What about family with more than one child? Is it expected to leave the other children at home? Won’t the participate wish to have his/her siblings come give her support too?

I know of many other school would extend their invitation to family members without charges. It is as if the more the merrier. We really don’t need the refreshment.

I don’t think it’s worth paying RM110 additional ( on top of the RM100 paid earlier) just for an event like that.
